🇺🇸 Star-Spangled Musings
Good morning, Kodiak Crossing! Callie Rhodes here on KWAC, and if you look out your window, you'll see Old Glory rippling in the wind. Yes, today is Flag Day, the birthday of our Stars and Stripes, a symbol of the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.
Now, patriotism, it's a curious thing, isn't it? It's this love for a land that's part of us, a sense of belonging that's as vast and varied as America itself. We're bound together not just by the geographic borders that define our nation, but by the collective experiences, the shared dreams and challenges, the stories told and untold.
Yet, patriotism, in its truest form, transcends the mere colors of a flag. It's the commitment to uphold the principles that flag represents: Liberty, justice, and the pursuit of happiness. It's a pledge to foster unity in our diversity, to value every voice in our chorus.
For me, being here in Kodiak Crossing, in the heart of Alaska, gives me a unique sense of belonging. It’s as if the mountains whisper stories of the past, the rivers hum the songs of the old, and the forests hold the dreams of the future. And all these voices, these stories, these dreams – they are all threads woven into the fabric of our flag.
On this Flag Day, let's not just honor the Stars and Stripes, but also the values it upholds, the dreams it embodies, and the unity it symbolizes. And, let's remember that we, the people, we are the bearers of those stars, the wearers of those stripes, and the weavers of our nation's future.
In honor of Flag Day and the spirit of unity it represents, here's 'America' by Simon & Garfunkel. Let their harmonies fill your morning with a sense of belonging, just like our star-spangled banner waving in the wind.
