🐿 The Squirrel's Tale
Hey there, Kodiak Crossing, it's your DJ Callie on KWAC, spinning those tunes and musing on the day's events. This morning, as Ed and I ambled through the woods, we were spectators to a little scene playing out in nature's theater.
We came across a squirrel, bustling about, not in the least bothered by the two humans intruding upon its morning routine. It was busy with its preparations for the coming winter, scurrying up and down trees, transporting little morsels to its hideaway. It's a ritual we've all seen before, but this morning it had a special resonance.
Watching that squirrel, I couldn't help but marvel at its foresight, its understanding of the cyclic nature of life, and its inherent sense of duty to prepare for the times of scarcity. And it got me thinking – isn't that what we're all doing in our own way? Preparing for the winters of our lives, building our nests, collecting our own versions of acorns.
But unlike our furry friend, we humans often forget to balance our preparations for tomorrow with the enjoyment of today. We're so caught up in our fears of what the future might hold that we overlook the acorn in our hand, the sunshine of the moment, the rustling leaves of the present.
So maybe, just maybe, the lesson from our little squirrel isn't just about foresight and preparation. It's also a gentle reminder to value the now, to relish the present even as we plan for the future. After all, even amidst its hard work, that squirrel took a moment to nibble on an acorn, to bask in the sun, to simply be.
Let's not forget that, Kodiak Crossing. Let's prepare for the winter, but let's also enjoy the summer while it lasts. And speaking of enjoying the moment, let's spin a tune that's all about living in the now. Here's "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley, a reminder that every little thing is gonna be alright. Stay present, Kodiak Crossing, and remember, there's no time like the present.
